| France to tackle "historical" waste tyres Posted: 22 Feb 2008 12:48 PM CST The French tyre industry has committed to dispose of one-third of France's "historical" volume of waste tyres under an agreement signed with junior environment minister Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet on Wednesday. The deal is intended to significantly reduce stocks accumulated before 2002 rules on waste tyre recovery were introduced. These stocks pose serious health and environmental risks, the government says. Most of the waste will be sent to waste-to-energy incineration plants or used as raw materials in construction.
