| Revised German packaging law set to enter force Posted: 28 Feb 2008 02:40 AM CST All sellers of packaged goods in Germany will have to join the country's pioneering green dot recycling scheme or a similar initiative under new legislation approved by the Bundestag on Friday. The lower house of parliament's approval was required after the upper house, or Bundesrat, amended the government's original proposal late last year. The law will enter force on 1 January 2009. The government proposed the legislation to eliminate the problem of free-riders by making sellers responsible for their own waste.
